new staff appointments
and promotions. The

Russell, editor in chief
of Convene, previously
Convene’s editor for five years;
Sherrif Karamat, chief operating officer,
previously PCMA’s chief Fawcett Wells Rollins Holmes
partner relations officer; Mona Simon, director, partner relations & advertising;
Mary Reynolds Kane, manager, marketing; Julie Fawcett, manager, communications;
Jennifer Wells, staff accountant; and Meredith Rollins, manager, industry & project
initiatives. PCMA has hired Mark Holmes, MBA, CPA, CFA, as chief financial officer.
He has more than 20 years of varied accounting and finance experience with public
accounting, private and public firms. Natalie Hummert was named production coordinator of PCMA’s sales and strategic partnerships team.
Chicago-based Trade Show
Exhibitors Association
has appointed Margit B.
Weisgal, CME, as executive
director. Weisgal previously
worked for Sextant Communications, a
trade show exhibitor education and consulting firm, for nearly 20 years.
The Mount Prospect-based
National Sporting Goods
Association has selected
Matt Carlson as its president & CEO. Prior to NSGA,
Carlson served for eight years as the city
administrator for Delafield, Wis.
Nancy B. McFadyen, has
been named senior national
sales executive for the
Orlando/Orange County
Convention & Visitors
Bureau, Inc. Based in Chicago, McFadyen
will be responsible for growing business
to Orlando from the Washington D.C.
association and trade show markets,
which she has concentrated on for the
Hilton Hotels Corp. and Sheraton Hotels
and Resorts during the past 15 years of
her career.
Rita Kaufman, CAE, is now
marketing and public relations manager at the Association of Professional
Chaplains in Schaumburg.
She previously was director of communications at the Oak Brook-based Spring
Manufacturers Institute.

The New Orleans Morial
Convention Center, the
sixth-largest convention
center in the nation, has
named Timothy R. Hemphill
its vice president of sales and marketing,
charged with strategic planning and oversight of the sales, marketing and communications initiatives for the center.
Hemphill most recently served eight years
as the executive director of the Kissimmee
Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Tracey N. Schilligo, MS, has
joined Healthy Smiles,
Healthy Children: The
Foundation of the American
Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as coordinator. She previously
served as director of advancement at St.
Mary of the Angels School in Chicago and
as program coordinator at the Big Shoulders Fund.
The American Veterinary
Medical Association has
hired Dr. Patricia L.
Wohlferth-Bethke as an
assistant director in its
membership and field services division.
VISIT Milwaukee has added
three employees to its staff:
Todd O’Leary has been
named director of membership. O’Leary returns to
O’Leary VISIT Milwaukee after three
years as senior sales manager at Midwest
Airlines. Previously, O’Leary served in various capacities at VISIT Milwaukee, including convention services manager and
group tour manager.
