The 2008 ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership Annual Meeting and Exposition will help you think big by connecting
you with the best and brightest in your profession! Throughout four exciting days in San Diego, you’ll trade ideas with your peers
and learn from today’s foremost leaders and thinkers. You’ll also have plenty of time for networking, visiting the Expo Hall and
building powerful communities of colleagues, business partners and friends.
NEW THIS YEAR!
In addition to inspiring presentations by
the nation’s premier thought leaders,
hundreds of education sessions designed
to give you skills that will pay off immediately back at the office, and fabulous
evening events and networking opportunities, we’ve added new features and
enhanced some of the classics.
ASSOCIATIONS NEXT SESSIONS
Since we don’t have a crystal ball that
allows us to adequately predict what will
unfold in the future, the Associations
Next sessions will look at future trends
and potential forecasts to help association executives plan for the years ahead.
Some topics will include:
• How to Create Local Business Strategy
and Infrastructure to Grow Business
Globally
• Governing Simply: Enabling Innovation Through Responsible Stewardship
• Using Open Business Models to Create
New Value
• How Online Gaming Will Affect the
Future of Association Leadership and
Adult Education
BOOK DISCUSSIONS
To give you a break from the traditional
learning format in a meeting room, we
will offer a chance to discuss four books
written by thought leaders and general
session speakers during learning lab
time frames. Join your colleagues in
ASAE & The Center’s bookstore prepared
to discuss one (or more!) of the books.
SOCIAL MEDIA LAB
Keeping up with the many advances in
technology and social media tools can
be overwhelming. In this hands-on
media lab, facilitators will show you how
to do the following while demonstrating
why it is worth the effort:
• Create a Facebook® page and a profile
in LinkedIn®;
• Contribute to wikis and blogs;
• Take advantage of YouTube® as a new
medium of communication and
engagement;
• Using Second Life® to create new
association platforms; and more!
THE PECHA KUCHA EXPERIENCE
Using a unique presentation method
called Pecha Kucha, which summarizes
conference take-aways in less than seven
minutes, the session facilitators will
present their key learnings from this
annual meeting. For more information on
Pecha Kucha, visit www.pecha-kucha.org.
CEO-ONLY SESSIONS
CEO-level members can connect with
their peers to learn from one another
and share their challenges in an open
and safe environment. To help create a
forum for these activities, we’ve created
CEO-Only sessions that will cover the
following:
• Brick by Brick: Removing the Barriers
to Director Service
• Reflective Governance: Does Your Current Model Meet the Leadership Needs
of Your Organization?
• The 10 Biggest Legal Traps Association CEOs Should Avoid
• Your President’s First 100 Days: How
To Give Your Leader a Head Start
• A Discussion on Human Resources
• A Discussion on Your Governance
Issues.
