Information is valuable only when accurately stored, reviewed and used for
appropriate activities and decision-mak-ing purposes. For your systems to be
useful, you must fully trust the validity
of the data. This is a very important lesson to learn. If you question validity, you
cannot make decisions. You cannot report
on findings. You cannot share your services. It is a threat to your mission if your
information is questionable. Reporting
and providing the right information and
outputs, and successfully cutting the data
into usable chunks of information, is
vital for any system ROI.

Once the review, analysis and data
integrity work is completed, the organization should ensure that the system stays
clean and information entry is done correctly in a timely, quality and effective
manner. You must develop a workable and
easy-to-follow process flow and documentation for these purposes. Train your
employees. Ensure any collection of out-
side data sources complies with your assurance processes and procedures. Remember, you are in charge. It is your system.
