Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has introduced its newest hotel, Hotel Palomar
Chicago, in River North. Opened in April,
the art-themed hotel has 261 guest rooms
and 5,800 square feet of meeting space,
including a 2,555-square-foot ballroom.
Along with complimentary high-speed
wireless Internet, the hotel’s amenities
include pet-friendly guest rooms, a green
roof and a rooftop indoor pool offering
expansive views of downtown Chicago.
Doubletree Hotels has opened its 10th
Chicagoland hotel, the Doubletree Hotel
Libertyville-Mundelein, in Chicago’s
northwest suburbs. Located in Munde-lein, Ill., an hour from both Chicago and
Milwaukee, the new hotel has 183 guest
rooms and approximately 12,000 square
feet of meeting space, including an
8,350-square-foot ballroom for events of
up to 700 people.

recently opened its first U.S. remote conferencing studio in Chicago at the W Chicago City Center. Built by Tata
Communications and powered by Cisco
TelePresence, the studio features high-definition videoconferencing equipment
designed to facilitate meetings across a
virtual conference table between scattered
colleagues, customers and business partners. Available to users who do not have
telepresence rooms at their offices, the
public studio is available for rent by the
hour. Starwood currently has a second
studio open in Sydney, and two more in
New York and Toronto. Later in the year it
will open a fifth studio in Los Angeles,
with additional locations planned for Dallas, San Francisco, Brussels, Paris, Hong
Kong and Frankfurt.
