Waiting to Inhale
By Susan Besze Wallace
The American Academy of Pediatrics' Helping Babies Breathe training
program is helping under-resourced communities — even entire countries
— decrease their infant mortality rates while empowering health care
providers. The stories of discouraged mothers embracing new life, where
they might not have a year ago, are rolling in to AAP. The story of the award-
winning program itself is one of meaningful collaboration, meticulous focus,
unyielding hope, and thinking very big on behalf of the very small.
