has hired Carol Clothier as vice president
for state health policy and public affairs
and Jennifer Michael as chief informa-
tion officer. Clothier previously was an
ABMS consultant. Michael most recently
served as director of IS applications at the
University of Illinois Medical Center.

named Joan
A. Kram, MBA, RN,
FACHE, executive director
of the Healthcare Quality
Certification Commission.
Kram, who also serves as
executive director of the
American Association of Neuroscience
Nurses, joined AMC in 2010 as senior
operations manager for two of AMC’s
health care associations. AMC also
has hired Rick Perry as technical and
research manager, and promoted Louise
Ristau, CAE, to account executive. Perry
joins AMC from the Window & Door
Manufacturers Association and will work
primarily with the organization’s trade
associations in the construction market-
place. Ristau, meanwhile, has been with
AMC for 11 years and most recently was
senior manager of operations for the
Awards and Recognition Association and
the Metal Construction Association. In
her new role, she will serve as executive
director of ARA and the Midwest Roofing
Contractors Association.

& Associates,
a Deerfield,
Ill.-based cer-
tified public
accounting
and consulting firm. Finkle
has been an associate
with the firm for 16 years,
specializing in audit and
accounting as audit manag-
er, while Samsky joined the
firm 11 years ago and has been serving
as tax manager. Kaufmann, also a 16-year
employee, is the firm’s administrator, in
charge of human resources and benefits.

as one of the “Best Places to Work
in Illinois” by the Human Resources

The Association Forum of Chicagoland

the May 2011 Certified Association
Executive exam, joining more than 3,900
industry leaders worldwide. The CAE
designation is administered by ASAE and
recognizes those who demonstrate knowledge essential to the practice of association management.

The next CAE exam will be administrated
on Dec. 2 (the application deadline is
Sept. 9) and, once again, the Association
Forum will offer study groups at downtown and suburban locations to help
association professionals prepare for the
exam. Facilitated by current CAEs, the
small, interactive groups meet weekly for
a structured case-study series based on
