Association Forum's Political Action
Committee works to proactively educate
candidates and public officials on public
policy matters critical to the association
industry.

Association Forum’s advocacy efforts
work. In the past year, Association Forum
has:
• Played an instrumental role in
amending Mayor Emanuel’s ethics-reform ordinance when considered
by the Chicago City Council. Association Forum helped remove a provision
requiring unpaid volunteers advocating
on behalf an association to register as
lobbyists, file quarterly reports and pay
applicable fees.
• Advocated for real reform at McCormick Place to ensure that Chicago
remains a vibrant home for members’ meetings. Not only have these
reforms worked but they have led to
significant cost savings.
• Worked with allies to rewrite burden-
some state lobbyist regulations and
restore an appropriate fee for register-
ing lobbyists.
• Worked to oppose a bill in the Illinois General Assembly that would
limit associations’ freedom of choice
for motor coach providers and the ability to negotiate for the best price for
motor coach providers.
