data suggests the ratio may be closer to

Another common belief is that a
capital campaign will hurt existing fundraising efforts. At first, therefore, ASGE
feared its campaign would cannibalize
other fundraising revenue that supports
mission-critical research, education and
public outreach initiatives. And while
it has seen shrinkage in annual giving
by members that can be attributed to
the campaign, corporate support of the
ASGE Foundation nearly doubled last
year. So, the fact is: In the long term,
a successful campaign will actually
strengthen your fundraising program.

At press time, ASGE had raised more
than 90 percent of its goal with just six
months remaining in the campaign. It’s
working hard every day to achieve its
goal before its 2012 annual meeting so
it can celebrate with the members and
corporate partners who have generously
lent their support. Thanks to the unseasonably warm Chicago winter, it’s on
track to break ground on the new facility this spring, with a projected opening
in fall 2013.
