Is there a particular moment, accomplishment
or achievement that you are most proud of in
There have been many significant
moments; however, what stands out most
is not a single initiative or event. Rather,
it is the culmination of what we achieved
in both organizations: bringing greater
value to the audiences we served and
positively impacting health care. I am
driven by a desire to serve society, and I
have been most fortunate to work in roles
that have allowed me to do that.
You have announced that you are planning to
retire at the end of this year. How does it feel
to be honored with this award as you begin
your final year with HIMSS?
I look at this award as career achievement recognition. I still plan on being
engaged with the association community
after my retirement from HIMSS, and I
still have ideas about how association
executive management can improve, but I
don’t anticipate being an association CEO
again, so receiving the award this year is
